CATAN fans are in luck today, as CATAN Studio and Asmodee just revealed a trio of new announcements, starting with the release date of CATAN – Dawn of Humankind. Dawn of Humankind is a reboot of the Settlers of the Stone Age, a CATAN-based strategy game that is now celebrating its 20th anniversary, releasing on October 1st this year. CATAN – 3D Edtiion players also received great news with the announcement of the Seafarers and Cities & Knights expansions, which brought two of the most popular CATAN expansions to CATAN – 3D World. Seafarers + Cities & Knights subscribers will be expanded to retail for $399. The announcements haven’t been made yet, as we’ve also got details about the CATAN World Championships.
CATAN invites the world’s best CATAN players to the 2022 CATAN World Championships, which will be held in Valletta, Malta from 18-20 November. Players from all over the world will be competing for the trophy and bragging rights of course, and you can find out more details about all three announcements below.

CATAN – The Dawn of Humanity
CATAN – Dawn of Humankind is a vibrant reboot of the Settlers of the Stone Age, the Stone Age strategy game based on CATAN, first released 20 years ago. Dawn of Humankind takes players back to prehistoric times for a stand-alone adventure charting global migration and the evolution of early humans. Designed by CATAN creator Klaus Teuber and his son Benjamin, the game introduces new mechanics and strategies set in the Ice Age era. CATAN – Dawn of Humankind launches in Target and hobby stores in the US, Canada, Australia and the UK on October 1, 2022.
CATAN – 3D Expansion – Sailors + Cities and Knights
CATAN – 3D Expansion – Seafarers + Cities & Knights brings the brand’s two most popular and beloved expansions to the 3D adventures of CATAN 3D in one big, beautiful box. 363 individual pieces of expansion, including hand-drawn terrain tiles and antique player characters, make CATAN’s “competitive co-op” world more immersive than ever. With CATAN – Seafarers, players sail to uncharted islands in search of precious gold and land for stability. In CATAN – Cities & Knights, players improve their cities and join forces to defend Catan against the invading barbarians.
The base game CATAN – 3D Edition is required to play both expansions, which can be played separately or in combination for even more gameplay variety. CATAN – 3D Expansion – Seafarers + Cities & Knights will launch with a $399.99 MSRP.
CATAN World Championship
CATAN invites the best CATAN players in the world to gather in Valletta, Malta, from November 18-20 for the 2022 CATAN World Championship. Set on a small island in the Mediterranean, this event welcomes CATAN National Championship winners from all over the world to compete for an amazing trophy and bragging rights worthy of a master of strategy.
